When and where is WCSJ2019?
WCSJ2019 will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland from 1-5 July, 2019.
The conference venue will be the SwissTech Conference Center (STCC) on the campus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, EPFL. Discounted hotel rooms are available for attendees.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes. We offer guests the possibility to register for social events, but not to the rest of the programme. You’ll find the corresponding costs on our registration platform. All extra accommodation costs will be at your charge.
Where does the WCSJ2019 take place?
WCSJ2019 will be held at the SwissTech Convention Center (STCC) which is ideally located on the campus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, EPFL, in Lausanne, just 45 minutes from Geneva International Airport by road or rail.

How do I get around in Lausanne?
Convenient, quick and reliable, public transportation is probably the best way to get around in Lausanne and in Switzerland. The M1 metro brings you to the SwissTech Convention Center from the Renens railway station or Lausanne city centre. It runs every five minutes at peak times, and takes just 12 minutes.

How much does public transport cost?
If you stay in a hotel in Lausanne and pay the city tax, you will have free and unrestricted access to all of the city’s public transportation (bus, train, metro). The Lausanne Transport Card, your key to mobility, is distributed in all the city’s hotels.
How can I get WCSJ2019 updates?

Will you offer travel fellowships to WCSJ2019?
Yes, but the application deadline for travel fellowships (including registration fee waivers) has passed and fellowships have already been awarded. Some WFSJ member associations offer travel fellowships for their members. Please check with your member association for more information.
How can I get a letter of invitation for my visa application?
Attendees needing a visa may request a general letter of invitation from WCSJ2019 during the online registration process. Issued electronically as a PDF and general in nature, this letter may take up to two weeks to receive. Please plan ahead.
Is it too late to propose a session for the core-program?
Yes. The Program Committee received a record number of session proposals (over 380) and is putting together a great program.
Will the WCSJ2019 meeting be useful for public information officers?
Yes. Many of the sessions will focus on questions of craft and science communication issues that should be useful to all science writers.
What about food?
WCSJ2019 will take place on the EPFL campus which offers plentiful food options at reasonable prices. A grocery store is located across the street from the conference venue, there are restaurants in different price categories and some food trucks on the campus. This said: almost all meals will be provided by the conference (through side-events to which you have to register for free through the registration system).
