Valentin Amrhein is professor of zoology at the University of Basel, Switzerland, and gives introductory courses in statistics for biologists. He also worked as a freelance science journalist, as a science editor for the Swiss newspaper "Basler Zeitung", and as head of communications at the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences. In recent years, he wrote a number of papers on statistics reform and on problems with and solutions for applying p-values and significance testing.
