Reflections on the workshops

As a science journalist, I have been spending a lot of my time reporting on new studies, natural phenomena and how research may affect our lives.
After attending the WCSJ2019, I now understand better that there is another key piece to science, and that is the people who produce it. I used to miss important stories by ignoring these people – or by omitting key facts that cast researchers or their work in a negative light.
Since 1 July 1 2019, I have been meeting with those who think and produce science for me to write. Henceforth, I have a new approach to seeing science and those who produce it. I will from now on know better how my audience can understand the science around them.
The workshops have been very enriching.
